7th Kinopolska Festival in Paris

 

The seventh edition of the Kinopolska festival will run from November 7 through November 11, 2014 in Paris. The event is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Competition Films

The lineup of this year’s Kinopolska competition section features six Polish films: Płynące wieżowce (Floating Skyscrapers) by Tomasz Wasilewski, Kebab&Horoscope by Grzegorz Jaroszuk, Obietnica (The Word) by Anna Kazejak, Hardkor Disko (Hardcore Disco) by Krzysztof Skonieczny, Pod Mocnym Aniołem (The Mighty Angel) by Wojciech Smarzowski, and Małe Stłuczki (Little Crushes) by Aleksandra Gowin and Ireneusz Grzyb.

Documentaries and Short Films

The festival lineup also features several Polish documentary films: Mundial. Gra o wszystko (Mundial. The Highest Stakes) by Michał Bielawski, Minkowski | Saga by Rafael Lewandowski, and Tata zza żelaznej kurtyny (My Father, the Iron Curtain, and Me) by Krzysztof Rzączyński. The festival’s short film section will screen Niebieski pokój (A Blue Room) by Tomasz Siwiński, Fragmenty (Fragments) by Agnieszka Woszczyńska, Kamień by Jakub Michnikowski, Arena by Piotr Bernaś, Światło w sierpniu (Light in August) by Matej Bobrik, Sinner by Kalina Alabrudzińska, Wulkan (Volcano) by Michał Wawrzecki, and Gniazdo (Habitat) by Arjun Talwar.

Liberty Cinema

Films in the festival’s Liberty Cinema section were selected to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the first free elections in Poland. Audiences will have an opportunity to see Mniejsze niebo (Smaller Sky) by Janusz Morgenstern, Usłyszcie mój krzyk (Hear My Cry) by Maciej Drygas, Moje zapiski z podziemia (My Notes from the Underground) by Jacek Petrycki, Szczurołap by Andrzej Czarnecki, and Dreszcze (Shivers) by Wojciech Marczewski.

Other Films

Audiences at the seventh edition of Kinopolska will also see Ucieczka z kina Wolność (Escape from the ‘Liberty’ cinema) by Wojciech Marczewski, Wałęsa. Człowiek z nadziei (Wałęsa. Man of Hope) by Andrzej Wajda, Obce ciało (Foreign Body) by Krzysztof Zanussi, as well as several films written by Krzysztof Piesiewicz: La double vie de Veronique and Bez końca (No End) by Krzysztof Kieślowski, Piekło (Hell) by Danis Tanović, and Niebo (Heaven) by Tom Tykwer.
