A Good Year for Polish Films
11 minut (11 Minutes), a film by Jerzy Skolimowski, will receive support from Eurimages; the decision was made at the December meeting of Eurimages representatives in Vienna. This marks the fourth Polish film to receive Eurimages funding in 2013.
The following films received funding this year:
- Obietnica (formerly known as Słowo) by Anna Kazejak – a Polish-Danish co-production, supported by Eurimages with a total of 200,000 EUR;
- Po śmierci by Magnus von Horn – a Polish-Swedish-Franch co-production, supported by Eurimages with a total of 220,000 EUR;
- Jeszcze dzień życia by Raul de la Fuente and Damian Nenow – a Polish-Spanish-Belgian-German co-production, supported by Eurimages with a total of 500,000 EUR;
- 11 minut by Jerzy Skolimowski – a Polish-Irish co-production, supported by Eurimages with a total of 350,000 EUR.
All four projects are also being co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. 11 minut is a disaster thriller; the principal photography period is scheduled for April 2014. This was the only Polish project submitted for the latest Eurimages session. The four Polish co-productions have received support in a total amount of 1.27 million EUR out of the fund’s annual budget of 25 million EUR.
Eurimages
is the Council of Europe fund for supporting co-production, distribution and exhibition of European audiovisual works. The Eurimages fund currently has 36 member states; Poland has been a member since 1991. Eurimages was launched in 1988 and to date has supported 1560 European co-productions with a total of approximately 474 million EUR.
