Adam Sikora Awarded in the Czech Republic

On January 26, the Association of Czech Film Critics presented awards to the authors of the best films produced in the Czech Republic in 2012. One of the top awards went to Polish cinematographer Adam Sikora; the award for Best Cinematography went to Sikora for his work on Ve stinu (English title: In the Shadow; Polish title: W cieniu) by David Ondříček, a film co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Adam Sikora Wins Best Cinematography Award

Ve stinu (In the Shadow), a film made in co-production between the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, also received the award for Best Film. The film’s leading man Ivan Trojan received the award for Best Actor. Director David Ondříček was voted Best Director, while composers of the film’s soundtrack Jan P. Muchow and Michal Novinski received the award for Best Music Score.

Czech Critics Voted for Best Films

From a list of 30 feature films, the Czech film critics selected only three films made in 2012 for nominations in the Best Film category. Alongside Ondříček’s In the Shadow, nominations went to Bohdan Slama’s Four Suns (this film won the awards for Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress) and to Okresní přebor – Poslední zápas Pepika Hnátka (Sunday League – Pepik Hnatek’s Final Match), which won the award for Best Supporting Actor.
