Polish Animations in Competition

Several Polish animated films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute will screen at the 11th Animateka International Film Festival, which runs from December 8 through December 14 in Ljubljana.

Polish Films in Main Competition

The Main Competition lineup features a selection of 37 animated films. These include Fuga na wiolonczelę, trąbkę i pejzaż (Fugue for Cello, Trumpet and Landscape) by Jerzy Kucia, Łaźnia (Baths) by Tomek Ducki, Do serca twego (To Thy Heart) by Ewa Borysewicz, Niebieski pokój by Tomasz Siwiński, Hipopotamy (Hippos) by Piotr Dumała, Gruby i chudy by Aleksandra Brożyna, and Fongopolis, a Polish-Slovakian co-production directed by Joanna Kożuch. A special out-of-competition section dedicated to films from Central and Eastern Europe will also feature two Polish animated films: Kamienica by Agnieszka Burszewska and Łakomstwa Endemita by Natalia Dziedzic.

Polish Films in Student Competition

The European student film competition lineup features a total of 50 animated films. The young generation of Polish animators in competition are represented by Nieprawdopodobnie elastyczny człowiek, a film by Karolina Specht, Niedźwiedź by Zofia Antoniak, Kapitan by Natalia Krawczuk and Magdalena Chowańska, and Opowieści o lesie by Katarzyna Melnyk.

Festival Closing Ceremony

The festival’s awards ceremony will be followed by a screening of Peter & the Wolf, a 2008 Academy Award®-winning film directed by Suzie Templeton and made as a co-production between Poland and the United Kingdom.
