Award for Agnieszka Grochowska

The 26th Amanda Awards ceremony was held on August 20, during the Haugesund International Film Festival. This year’s Best Actress award went to Agnieszka Grochowska for her role in Upperdog by Sara Johnsen. Upperdog also won the Best Norwegian Film award.

Upperdog, featuring Grochowska, received a total of eight nominations, ultimately winning the top prize and four other awards: Best Actress for Grochowska, Best Director for Sara Johnsen, Best Cinematography for John Andreas Andersen, and Best Editing for Zaklina Stojcevska.

The Norwegian Film Award for Best Actor went to Stellan Skarsgard for his role in En ganske snill mann (A Somewhat Gentle Man) by Hans Petter Moland.

Michael Haneke’s Das Weisse Band (The White Ribbon) won the award for Best Foreign Film in Theatrical Release.

The Amanda Committee’s Golden Clapper Award went to Polish-born Andrzej Kiwala. Kiwala has long been involved in the Norwegian film industry as a colour grader; his credits include such films as Elling by Petter Naess, Hawaii, Oslo by Erik Poppe, and Aberdeen by Hans Petter Moland.
