Award for Chemo

On March 18, Paweł Łoziński received the award for Best Director at the One World festival in Prague. His documentary Chemia (Chemo) was screened in the main competition.

The 12th One World International Human Rights Film Festival is one of the world’s largest events dedicated to the field of human rights.

“The director of Chemo touches upon a frightening topic, and handles it with a raw minimalism. He was able to create a moving – uplifting even – film that is an extraordinary experience for audiences. This serves as proof of his excellent film-making skills, and of a unique sensitivity to the details of the human psyche. The One World festival jury is delighted to give the directing award to Paweł Łoziński for his film Chemo“, said jury member Anders Østergaard when explaining the jury verdict.

“I am truly honoured to receive this award for best director at the One World Human Rights Film Festival. This festival has done a lot to promote respect for human dignity. I made Chemo with the belief that suffering, fear, and hope are universal feelings, familiar to everyone. I would like to thank you for this award from the bottom of my heart”, said Paweł Łoziński.

The award was presented by Pavel Bém, mayor of Prague. It was accepted by Krystyna Krauze, deputy director of the Polish Institute in Prague, on the film director’s behalf.

The Best Film Award went to the documentary Enemies of the People by Rob Lemkin.
