Awards for Piggies

Piggies, the latest feature from Robert Gliński, received the Special Jury Prize at the European Film Festival in Les Arcs, France. The acclaimed Hungarian director István Szabó presided over the jury. The festival’s artistic director is Frédéric Boyer, known for the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes.

At the 27th International Young Audience Film Festival that recently ended in Poznań Piggies also received the award of the Polish Filmmakers Association. The official jury statement says: “Piggies is a touching story that sheds new light on the current situation in frontier regions by using a modern language to communicate with audiences. We give particularly high notes to Gliński’s directing, and to the acting talent of Filip Garbacz for originality and subtlety of artistic expression”.

The latest awards in Les Arcs and Poznań follow previous successes for Piggies this year – special recognition of the jury in Karlovy Vary and award for lead actor Filip Garbacz’s debut at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

Piggies is a Polish-German co-production, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute and produced by Widark – Produkcja Filmowa i TV. The film is set for theatrical release next year in Poland (late February) and Germany (May).
