Być jak Kazimierz Deyna (Being Like Deyna) will be released on March 8 in Cineworld theatres in London, Dublin, and Southampton. Distribution is handled by Hexon Europe Ltd and Goniec Polski.

Być jak Kazimierz Deyna (Being Like Deyna) is a humorous coming-of-age story about more than a few relationships and life choices, where Deyna and Boniek score several goals, white socks have the power of an aphrodisiac, desire leads to purity, and a Polish mother settles the score with Eastern markets. A funny and touching story about little Kazio, born under communism and growing up in the tumultuous times of transformation, who enters the new millennium with a family of his own.

Debut Film Supported by the Polish Film Institute

Być jak Kazimierz Deyna (Being Like Deyna) is the feature debut from director Anna Wieczur-Bluszcz. The film was lensed by Tomasz Naumiuk and written by Anna Wieczur-Bluszcz and Radosław Paczocha, with original music by Łukasz Matuszyk. Being Like Deyna was produced by Skorpion Arte and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Winner of the ‘Young and Cinema” Festival

Leading roles were played by Marcin Korcz, Gabriela Muskała, Przemysław Bluszcz and Jerzy Trela. The film premiered in Poland at the 37th Gdynia Film Festival, screening in the Panorama of Polish Cinema. At the 31st ‘Young and Cinema’ Film Festival in Koszalin, Being Like Deyna received the Grand Amber Award for Best Film Debut in 2012.

 

Distribution in Poland is handled by Next Film. The film was released in Polish theatres on March 1, 2013.
