Cannes: Variety Spotlights Poland

Nick Holdsworth writes about Polish cinema in the special Cannes Daily edition of Variety. He presents several Polish films screened at the Cannes Film Market, and profiles the hottest directors from Poland’s young generation of filmmakers.

In Poland looks confident, Holdsworth quotes an anonymous source within the Polish film industry claiming that the new Operational Programmes of the Polish Film Institute had not been discussed with producers. Perhaps this anonymous source wasn’t aware that the National Chamber of Audiovisual Producers (KIPA), i.e. a self-governing and independent industry entity, was consulted by the Polish Film Institute on all changes at every stage of works on the new Operational Programmes.

This process was entirely open and transparent, but perhaps the anonymous producer just didn’t know…
