Capri Legend Award for Skolimowski

At the recently closed film festival on the Italian island of Capri, Jerzy Skolimowski received the Capri Legend award, presented to the world’s most acclaimed filmmakers for significant contribution to the development of world cinema.

This year’s Capri Legend award went to Skolimowski and to Italian director Dario Argento. Past winners include directors Ken Loach, Marco Bellocchio, Michael Cisino, Dennis Hopper, and film producer Dino de Laurentis.

The awards ceremony was held on December 30, after a special screening of Jerzy Skolimowski’s latest feature Essential Killing, awarded at international film festivals in Venice and Mar del Plata.

The “Capri, Hollywood” film festival, with its 15th edition running from December 26 to January 2 this year, is one of Italy’s best known film events, serving as a link between Italian cinema, European cinema, and Hollywood.
