Chasm Awarded in Zagreb

Wojciech Kasperski’s Otchłań (Chasm) received the “Little Stamp” award for best film by a young documentary filmmaker at the 6th ZagrebDox International Documentary Film Festival.

The festival jury recognized Chasm for its “authenticity in portraying the loneliness and everyday struggle of the protagonist”. The film is about a gold digger in the mountains of northern Siberia.

Director Wojciech Kasperski (born in 1981) is a graduate of the Łódź Film School. He works in Poland and Russia. His films, particularly Nasiona (Seeds) from 2005, have received multiple awards at various film festivals in Poland and abroad. Kasperski has participated in the INPUT conference, the Tous Les Cinémas du Monde section of the Cannes festival, and Prix Europa. Together with Dawid Janicki, he established the Vostok8 production company.

Chasm was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
