CinemaNet Award for Andrzej Wajda

Andrzej Wajda received the Golden Wave award for lifetime achievement at the 14th edition of the “Familia” Catalan film awards. This award is presented by the CinemaNet association, established in 1996 with the aim of promoting educational, social, and family values in the spirit of Christian humanism in modern cinema.

“Andrzej Wajda is one of the most prominent modern filmmakers, not only in Poland, but also on the European and global scale. The jury appreciates his artistic achievements and recognizes that Wajda has portrayed many tragic aspects of Polish history in his works,” said Daniel Arasa, general director of CinemaNet.

In 2009 Andrzej Wajda’s Katyn, before being released in Spanish cinemas, had a special screening at the Abat Oliba CEU University, organized by CinemaNet and the Polish consulate in Barcelona. This screening was accompanied by an exhibition of maps and documents entitled I Remember. Katyn 1940.
