Czech Awards Nomination for Sikora

On January 4, the Association of Czech Film Critics announced this year’s nominations for its awards for films produced in the Czech Republic in 2012. Eight nominations went to Ve stinu (English title: In the Shadow; Polish title: W cieniu) by David Ondříček, a film made in co-production between Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. One of the nominations for Best Cinematography went to In the Shadow‘s Polish cinematographer Adam Sikora.

Czech Critics Vote for Best Films

From a list of 30 feature films, the Czech film critics selected only three films made in 2012 for nominations in the Best Picture category. Alongside Ondříček’s In the Shadow, nominations went to Bohdan Slama’s Four Suns (a film recently released in Polish cinemas) and to Okresní přebor – Poslední zápas Pepika Hnátka (Sunday League – Pepik Hnatek’s Final Match) by Jan Prušinovský.

In the Shadow received nominations in the following categories: Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Original Score (with a nomination for Midi Lidi, the band that is also responsible for the soundtrack of Polski film (Polish Movie) by Marek Najbrt). The nomination for Best Cinematography went to Polish cinematographer Adam Sikora. The Polish producer of In the Shadow is Centrala Sp. z o.o.

The awards ceremony of the Association of Czech Film Critics will be held on January 26 in Prague.
