November 5 marked the awards ceremony of the 59th edition of the DOK Leipzig festival. This year's edition of the festival brought accolades for five Polish films.

Zjednoczone Stany Miłości (United States of Love), a film directed by Tomasz Wasilewski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, was released theatrically in Sweden on October 28.
ZOFIA KOWALEWSKA'S "CLOSE TIES" SHORTLISTED FOR THE OSCARS
Więzi (Close Ties), a film directed by Zofia Kowalewska produced by the Polish Filmmakers Association's Munk Studio and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, has been shortlisted for this year's Academy Awards and will compete for an Oscar nod in the Best Documentary Short Subject category.
FAREWELL TO ANDRZEJ WAJDA
October 18 and 19 marked the funeral and wake for Andrzej Wajda. His remains were laid to rest at the Salvatore Cemetery in Krakow.
POLISH FILMMAKERS WIN LATVIAN FILM AWARDS
Wojciech Staroń and Natalia Czeczott received the Latvian Film Awards for their work on Świt (Ausma / Dawn), a film directed by Laila Pakalnina. Overall the film was recognised in seven categories.
PFI AWARD FOR THE PRODUCERS OF THE LAST FAMILY
On 16 October 2016 at the closing gala of the 32nd Warsaw Film Festival, General Director of the Polish Film Institute Magdalena Sroka presented the first-ever award of the Polish Film Institute for the producer of the best film presented at the festival's Warsaw Screenings. The award went to Leszek Bodzak and Aneta Hickinbotham, producers of Ostatnia Rodzina (The Last Family), a film directed by Jan P. Matuszyński.
