"Entangled" Awarded in Prague

On March 12, the documentary Uwikłani (Entangled) by Lidia Duda received the Best Director award at the 15th One World festival in Prague. The grand prize in the festival’s competition went to The Act of Killing by Joshua Oppenheimer. The awards ceremony will be held on March 13.

A Film with a Strong Message

Lidia Duda received the Best Director award at the 15th One World festival. Members of the international jury – director Sawsan Darwaza, Isabel Arrate Fernandez of the IDFA Bertha Fund, director Sean McAllister and producer Martina Šantavá – awarded her film Uwikłani (Entangled) for its “subtle treatment of the topic of pedophilia observed from the both sides of the problem” as the jury stated, “the director has managed to give a strong message without even showing the faces of her characters. We would also like to credit the soundtrack that supports the visual of the movie and helps the audience to better cope with the harsh topic”.

A Film Co-Financed by the Polish Film Institute

Lidia Duda’s film previously screened at the 52nd Krakow Film Festival (winning the Golden Hobby-Horse Award for Best Polish Documentary), and the 9th Camera Obscura International Festival in Bydgoszcz, winning the Special Prize in International Competition and the Special Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Art of Non-Fiction Filmmaking. The film’s international premiere took place at the 55th DOK Leipzig festival. On March 27 Uwikłani (Entangled) will be broadcast on TVP Kultura.
