Nominations for the 24th edition of the European Film Awards were announced on November 5 at the Seville International Film Festival. Polish cinematographer Adam Sikora is among candidates for the Carlo di Palma European Film Award. Over 2,500 members of the European Film Academy will vote to select this year’s best European filmmakers.

Europe’s Best Cinematographers

Adam Sikora was nominated for the European Film Award for his work on Essential Killing by Jerzy Skolimowski.

Other candidates for this award are:

• Manuel Alberto Claro – Melancholia, directed by Lars von Trier;
• Fred Kelemen – The Turin Horse, directed by Béla Tarr;
• Guillaume Schiffman – The Artist, directed by Michel Hazanavicius
  

Nominations for Polish Short Films

15 titles are in competition for this year’s Best European Short Film Award, including two films from Poland. Throughout the year, Europe’s best short films receive nominations at 15 key film events. Polish films gained the acclaim of juries in Locarno (Opowieści z chłodni [Frozen Stories] by Grzegorz Jaroszuk) and in Krakow (Paparazzi by Piotr Bernaś). At last year’s edition of the European Film Awards, the Best European Short Film Award went to Hanoi-Warszawa (Hanoi-Warsaw) by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz.

The 24th edition of the European Film Awards gala will take place on December 3 in Berlin.

Essential Killing, Opowieści z chłodni (Frozen Stories) and Paparazzi were co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
