„Even mice belong to heaven” with nominations to French Caesars and Czech Lions

Co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, „Even Mice Belong to Heaven” by Denisa Grimmova and Jan Bubenička has a chance for a Caesar – the award of the French Academy of Film Art and Technology in the best animated film category. Czech-Polish-French-Slovak production is also nominated for Czech Lions in the best music (Krzysztof A. Janczak) and best animated film categories.

The animation by Denisa Grimmova and Jan Bubeniček was shown for the premiere at the International Animated Film Festival in Annecy. She was nominated for the European Film Award, and also received awards, incl. in Szanhgaj, Tallinn, Anifilm, Lucas Film Festival or at the Children’s Cinema festival.

The film is a story of courage and hope that combines puppet animation with computer 3D. The script was based on the best-selling book by Iva Procházková. It tells about the extraordinary friendship between the mouse Czmyszka and the fox Rudeusz. The animals that were antagonists in the film meet in the heaven for animals to go on an amazing journey together.

An international team of creators

Artists from Momakin in Łódź are responsible for the production of nearly half of all the little puppet actors, including the main character – the mouse Czmyszynka. The technical designs of the puppets were prepared by Piotr Knabe, and the animation structures were prepared by Dariusz Kalita. The following persons were also responsible for creating the characters: Agnieszka Mikołajczyk, Agnieszka Smolarek, Anna Szcześniak, Beata Jarmuż-Socha, Piotr Knabe, Dariusz Kalita, and Marcin Zalewski, who were organizationally supported by production assistant Magdalena Haremska.

The music for the film was composed by Krzysztof A. Janczak, and three Polish animators participated in the animation works on the set: Katarzyna Okoniewska, Piotr Ficner and Stanisław Szostak. The main producer of „Even mice belong to heaven” is the Czech studio Fresh Films, and the co-producers are Polish Animoon, French Les Films du Cygne and Slovak CinemArt. The distribution in Poland is handled by the New Horizons Association.
