"Faces of Agnieszka Holland"

November 26 will mark the opening of the ‘Poland. Europe. The World – the Faces of Agnieszka Holland’ exhibition at the Polish Institute in Budapest. The exhibition is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Exhibition on Agnieszka Holland

Curated by the Museum of Cinematography in Łódź, the exhibition is dedicated to Agnieszka Holland, one of the most acclaimed individuals in the world of filmmaking, recognized film and stage director, author of multiple interesting screenplays for her own films and those by other directors, including Krzysztof Zanussi, Andrzej Wajda, and Krzysztof Kieślowski.

Archive Materials from Poland and Abroad

The exhibition focuses on Agnieszka Holland’s work in filmmaking. Items on display include photos from the sets of Holland’s films from the director’s private archives, complemented by materials presented courtesy of Andrzej Wajda, HBO, Zebra Film Studio, Tor Film Studio, Solopan, Apple Film Productions, Best Film, as well as various film organizations from abroad, including DIF in Frankfurt, the BFI in London, FAMU in Prague, and Deutsche Kinemathek in Berlin. The exhibition also features an extensive collection of posters for Agnieszka Holland’s films.

Exhibition in Budapest

The Agnieszka Holland exhibition first opened in June 2013 in Prague, during the 20th edition of the FebioFest International Film Festival. The first presentation in Poland was at the Museum of Gdynia, during the 38th Gdynia Film Festival. Since November 15, the exhibition has also been open for access at the Museum of Cinematography in Łódź, and as of November 26, it will also be available at the Polish Institute in Budapest. The Hungarian premiere of the exhibition coincides with the director’s 65th birthday. The opening of the Budapest exhibition will feature a screening of Agnieszka Holland, a documentary directed by Wiesław Dąbrowski. The Budapest exhibition will be open until January 31, 2014.

Publication

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual Polish-English publication entitled ‘Poland. Europe. The World – the Faces of Agnieszka Holland’.

The ‘Poland. Europe. The World – the Faces of Agnieszka Holland’ exhibition is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, and is organized under honorary patronage of Bogdan Zdrojewski, Poland’s Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Partner organizations include: the National Film Archive in Warsaw and the KinoArt Film Association. The exhibition is curated by Krystyna Zamysłowska and Piotr Kulesza, with visual design by Sławomir Bit.
