APPLE FILM PRODUCTION, one of the first independent production companies in Poland, was founded in 1990 by Dariusz Jabłoński. To date the company has produced more than 60 feature films, documentaries and TV series Gry uliczne (Street Games), Zabić Sekala (Sekal Has to Die) – the first ever Czech-Polish-Slovak-French co-production, Małżowina (The Auricle), Patrzę na ciebie Marysiu (I Am Looking At You Mary), Sezon na leszcza (Sucker Season), Bellissima, Moje pieczone kurczaki (My Fried Chickens), Przedwiośnie and Solidarność, Solidarność... Many of them were box office hits and won over 60 international and Polish awards. The latest productions are Wino truskawkowe (Strawberry Wine) by Dariusz Jabłoński and Benek by Robert Gliński. In 2008, the company reopened the Polish-Hungarian-Czech-Slovak co-production entitled Prawdziwa historia Janosika and directed by Agnieszka Holland and Kasia Adamik. Another 2008 project was the documentary Gry wojenne, directed by Dariusz Jabłoński. Most Apple Film projects have been made in coproduction with TVP, Canal+, HBO, MDR, ARTE, WDR and independent companies from Germany, UK, Austria, France, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
