Established in 1947, the company has produced over 1000 films to date and received 250 awards at festivals around the world. These films are classics of Polish animation, especially among films for children and young adults. The company has an extensive archive and is run by Zdzislaw Kudła – a prominent artist and director of animated films. Besides animated short films for children, the company's current projects include a feature-length animated film about Nicolaus Copernicus – Gwiazda Mikołaja and Kraina cieni from first-time director Tomasz Głodek. In 2007 the company produced Felicjanek 10 – a short film about the childhood years of pope John Paul II.
