filmPOLSKA Festival in Berlin

The sixth edition of the filmPOLSKA film festival takes place between April 14 and 20. Organized since 2006, this event is an annual presentation of latest Polish film in Germany.

The seven festival days will bring over 100 screenings of Polish feature, short, documentary, experimental, animated, school, and archive fims in cinemas in Berlin and Potsdam (Hackesche Hoefe Kino, Neue Kant Kinos, Arsenal, FSK, Potsdam Film Museum, Zeughaus Kino, Club der polnischen Versager, and K18).

The festival will screen latest Polish features, produced within the last twelve months. These include Zero by Paweł Borowski, Dom zły (Dark House) by Wojciech Smarzowski, the debut from Paweł Sala Matka Teresa od kotów (Mother Teresa of Cats), and Wenecja (Venice) by Jan Jakub Kolski. The lineup also features films that screened at this year’s Berlin Film Festival: Made in Poland by Przemysław Wojcieszek and Tomorrow Will Be Better by Dorota Kędzierzawska.

Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Decalogue will be shown in the retrospective section. The event will be accompanied by various meetings, Q&A sessions with filmmakers and festival guests, as well as a series of master classesmfor young filmmakers, led by Bartek Konopka, Oscar-nominated for his Królik po berlińsku (Rabbit A la  Berlin).

A special guest of the “Polish Art of Film Image” is cinematographer Paweł Edelman, director of photography on such acclaimed film as The Pianist, Katyn, Tatarak (Sweet Rush), аnd Ghostwriter.
