Hanna Polak's Documentary Awarded

Nadejdą lepsze czasy (Something Better to Come), a documentary film directed by Hanna Polak and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the top prize in the documentary film competition at the 26th Trieste International Film Festival.

Nadejdą lepsze czasy (Something Better to Come)

Produced over the course of more than a decade, this Polish-Danish co-production, previously awarded at IDFA and the East Doc Platform, is the story of people living and working at one of Russia’s landfills. Director Hanna Polak, nominated for an Academy Award in 2005 for her previous filmDzieci z Leningradzkiego (The Children of Leningradsky), now focuses on the story of one of the inhabitants of this landfill, following the protagonist in her high and low moments. Nadejdą lepsze czasy (Something Better to Come) was presented at the first edition of Docs to go!, and was also selected for screening in the DOC U Competition, which features awards presented by a youth jury.

Miasto 44 (Warsaw 44) as the Festival’s Closing Film

This year’s edition of the Trieste International Film Festival closed with a special screening of Miasto 44 (Warsaw 44) by Jan Komasa. The filmmakers were present at the screening.
