Hoffman Exhibition in Budapest

An exhibition commemorating the work of director Jerzy Hoffman entitled “Jerzy Hoffman. Cinema with History in the Background” will be on display at the Polish Institute in Budapest until January 31.

Exhibition for Hoffman’s 80th Birthday

To celebrate Jerzy Hoffman’s 80th birthday, the Museum of Cinematography in Łódź in cooperation with Zodiak Jerzy Hoffman Film Production and the National Film Archive prepared a monographic exhibition dedicated to the director’s works. The exhibition focuses on Hoffman’s artistic achievement from his first documentary and feature films made in cooperation with Edward Skórzewski to his major productions, including Pan Wołodyjowski, Potop (The Deluge), Ogniem i mieczem (With Fire and Sword), and 1920. Bitwa Warszawska (1920. The Battle of Warsaw).

Photographs and Interviews

The exhibition features a number of photographs from the sets of Jerzy Hoffman’s films, portraying the director at work with Polish actors, cinematographers and production designers. This is a unique collection of materials that have never been published before; they have been made available to the public for the first time at the Budapest exhibition in the form of large-scale prints, complemented by excerpts from Stanisław Zawiśliński’s interviews with Jerzy Hoffman.

The opening of the exhibition was held in March 2012 at the Museum of Cinematography in Łódź.
