"Ida" at 40th Telluride Film Festival

The lineup of the 40th Telluride Film Festival (Colorado, USA) featured Ida, the latest film by director Paweł Pawlikowski, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. The Telluride Film Festival ran from August 29 through September 2, 2013.

 

This year’s lineup of the Telluride Film Festival featured over 100 recent films from 25 countries. This non-competitive festival annually showcases the latest accomplishments and trends in world cinema.

Ida Selected as One of 27 Most Interesting Films from Around the World

One of the 27 feature films screening at the Telluride Film Festival was Ida by Paweł Pawlikowski. Ida is the story of an encounter between two women: a young novitiate nun who learns of her Jewish heritage, and a communist activist who is the only survivor in her family. The film stars Agata Kulesza and first-time actress Agata Trzebuchowska, with supporting roles by Joanna Kulig an Dawid Ogrodnik. Other films in the Telluride Film Festival lineup included the latest works of Alfonso Cuarón, the Coen brothers, Asghar Farhadi, and Jonathan Glazer. Telluride also featured a screening of Agnieszka Holland’s mini-series Burning Bush.
