Award for Ida

Poland’s candidate for the Best Foreign Language Academy Award® has received another international award; Paweł Pawlikowski’s Ida won the Audience Award in a competition organized by the Helsinki International Film Festival and the Finnish National Audiovisual Institute.

A Film Supported by the Polish Film Institute

Ida is a Polish-Danish co-production, produced by Opus Film and Phoenix Film in cooperation with Portobello Pictures, Phoenix Film Polska, and Canal+ Polska. The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, Eurimages, the Danish Film Institute, and the Łódź Film Fund.

A Record Number of Guests at the Helsinki IFF

This year’s Helsinki film festival marked a record number of visitors. By the closing day, over 61,500 tickets had been sold – an increase of 3,000 compared to last year. An additional 3,700 viewers watched the festival’s short films online.

A Festival Recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association

The Helsinki festival is accredited with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). Every year, HFPA journalists travel to film festivals in search of foreign-language films that are potential candidates for the Golden Globes. Recognition by the HFPA makes the Helsinki IFF eligible for participation of HFPA members at the Finnish event, which helps boost the festival’s significance on the world scene.
