Excellent Reviews

Ida has been very warmly received by US-based film critics. Reviews of the film have been published by some of the top newspapers, print and web-based magazines, as we have written in early June.

David Debny of the New Yorker calls Ida “a compact masterpiece.” According to A. O. Scott of the New York Times, Ida also leaves an impression on audiences “[…] thanks to Łukasz Żal and Ryszard Lenczewski’s beautifully misty, piercingly sharp monochrome cinematography.”

In a review published on www.rogerebert.com, Godfrey Cheshire writes: “Riveting, original and breathtakingly accomplished on every level, Ida would be a masterpiece in any era, in any country.”

“Agata Trzebuchowska as Anna/Ida is spectacularly contained and tranquil playing off the more violent emotions delivered by the also marvelous Agata Kulesza, as the apparently strong, yet vulnerable Wanda. […] With Ida, Pawlikowski has introduced a new art house classic,” writes Carlos Aguilar in a review published on IndieWire.
