"Ida" Nominated

Ida, a film directed by Paweł Pawlikowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, has been nominated for the Independent Spirit Award in the Best International Film category. This year marks the 30th edition of the International Spirit Awards, presented annually by Film Independent.

 

Nominations for this year’s Independent Spirit Awards were announced on November 25 by Josh Welsh, head of Film Independent, and actors Rosario Dawson and Diego Luna.

Ida Among Six Nominated Films

Five other films were nominated in the Best International Film category: Force majeure, directed by Ruben Östlund (Sweden); Leviathan, directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev (Russia); Mommy, directed by Xavier Dolan (Canada); Norte, the End of the History, directed by Lav Diaz (Philippines), and Under the Skin, directed by Jonathan Glazer (United Kingdom).

30th Edition of the Independent Spirit Awards

‘Best International Film’ is one of 19 categories in this year’s 30th edition of the Independent Spirit Awards, presented annually by Film Independent, a not-for-profit organization of American independent filmmakers. Other nominees for this year’s awards include Michael Keaton (nominated in the Best Male Lead category for his performance in Birdman), Ethan Hawke (nominated in the Best Supporting Male category for his performance in Boyhood), Damien Hazelle (nominated for Best Director for his work on Whiplash), and the creators of Selma (nominated for Best Feature).

 

The 30th Independent Spirit Awards ceremony will be held on February 21, 2015.
