"Ida" Nominated for BIFA

Ida, a film directed by Paweł Pawlikowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, has been nominated for the 17th British Independent Film Awards in the Best International Independent Film category.

Ida Among Five Nominated Titles

The Polish film was nominated alongside four other international films. These four are: Blue Ruin (directed by Jeremy Saulnier, USA), Boyhood (directed by Richard Linklater, USA), Fruitvale Station (directed by Ryan Coogler, USA) and Babadook (directed by Jennifer Kent and lensed by Radosław Ładczuk, Australia).

The 17th Edition of the British Independent Film Awards

Best International Independent Film is one of 18 categories in this year’s 17th edition of the British Independent Film Awards, one of the UK film industry’s top awards after BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts).

 

This year’s nominees include Benedict Cumberbatch (nominated for the Best Actor award for his performance in The Imitation Game), Michael Fassbender (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in Frank), Mike Leigh (nominated for the Best Director award for his film Mr. Turner), and the creators of Pride (nominated in the Best British Independent Film category).

 

The 17th British Independent Film Awards ceremony will be held on December 7, 2014. The winning films will be decided by an independent jury of industry professionals, led by director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech, Les Miserables).
