"Ida" Selected as Finalist

The three finalists competing for the 2014 Lux Prize of the European Parliament were announced today at the press conference of the 71st Venice IFF. One of the three selected films is Ida, a film directed by Paweł Pawlikowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

2014 Lux Prize European Parliament Award finalists:

  • Bande de filles (Girlhood), directed by Céline Sciamma (France)
  • Ida, directed by Paweł Pawlikowski (Poland, Denmark)
  • Razredni Svoraznik (Class Enemy), directed by Rok Biček, Slovenia

Fourth Film Supported by the Polish Film Institute to Receive Lux Prize Nomination

Paweł Pawlikowski’s Ida is the fourth film co-financed by the Polish Film Institute to be nominated for the Lux Prize. In 2012, one of the nominated films was Droga na drugą stronę (Crulic – The Path to Beyond), a film by Anca Damian, while in 2011 Jerzy Skolimowski’s Essential Killing was among the selected films. In 2008, the official selection included Sztuczki (Tricks), a film by Andrzej Jakimowski.

Award to Be Presented on December 17 in Strasbourg

One of the members of this year’s selection panel was Jakub Duszyński, representing Polish film distributor Gutek Film. The winner of the 2014 Lux Prize will be announced on December 17 in Strasbourg.
