JERZY KUCIA WINS GOLD PANDA AWARDS

Fuga na wiolonczelę, trąbkę i pejzaż (Fugue for Cello, Trumpet and Landscape), a film directed by Jerzy Kucia and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the prestigious Gold Panda Awards at the 13th Sichuan TV Festival.

Two Awards for Jerzy Kucia

Jerzy Kucia’s Fuga na wiolonczelę, trąbkę i pejzaż (Fugue for Cello, Trumpet and Landscape) received the Gold Panda awards for Best Animated Short and Best Special Effects. Jerzy Kucia’s film had also been nominated for the Grand Prize, which ultimately went to the Chinese film Monkey King: Hero Is Back, directed by Tian Xiaopeng.

Fuga na wiolonczelę, trąbkę i pejzaż (Fugue for Cello, Trumpet and Landscape) is a contemplative story told in poetic form, based on the relationship between image and music. The film presents the process of searching for the unique qualities of landscape and liberating human emotions by touching upon events that took place in the presented scenery. Jerzy Kucia’s latest work has to date received multiple awards at film festivals, including the Animator festival in Poznań, Etiuda & Anima in Krakow, the Be There! festival in Corfu, the Krakow Film Festival, and the Hiroshima International Animated Film Festival.

One of the animated films also nominated for the Gold Panda awards is To pewna wiadomość, a film by Joanna Jasieńska-Koronkiewicz, which was nominated for the special jury prize.
