"Jestem twój" set for world premiere at Montreal

The film Jestem twój by Mariusz Grzegorzek was invited to the main competition at one of the most important international film festivals.

Jestem twój will compete with 19 other films from around the world for the Grand Prix of the Americas at this year’s Montreal World Film Festival, lasting from 27 August-7 September.

Grzegorzek adapted the screenplay for Jestem twój from the play I Am Yours by Canadian writer Judith Thompson. The film tells the story of Marta, a 30-year-old doctor who loses control over her life. She rejects her loving husband and by chance meets a young criminal, Artur, who falls in love with her.

Their sudden intimacy produces an unwanted pregnancy, which Marta wants to terminate. But Artur wants to save the baby, and his mother supports him. Alicja, Marta’s sister, also tries to help, although her life is an emotional wreck. Secrets, masks, and hidden obsessions burst onto the screen.

Among the actors playing in the film are Dorota Kolak, Roma Gąsiorowska, Małgorzata Buczkowska-Szlenkier, and Mariusz Ostrowski.

Grzegorzek is a film and theatre director, professor at the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź, art director, graphics designer, and co-owner of the Krakatau production company. He has received many awards at film and theatre festivals in Poland and abroad.

Krakatau produced the film, which is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
