"Loving" Wins Lecce Film Festival

Miłość (Loving), a film directed by Sławomir Fabicki and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, has won the top prize at the 14th Festival of European Cinema in Lecce, Italy.

Miłość (Loving) Voted Best Film

Sławomir Fabicki’s Miłość (Loving) won the Main Competition at the 14th Festival of European Cinema in Lecce, receiving the l’Ulivo d’oro prize for Best Film. At last year’s edition of the Lecce festival, Polish cinematographer Piotr Niemyjski received the award for Best Photography for his work on Lęk wysokości (Fear of Falling), while in 2011 the special jury prize went to Erratum by Marek Lechki.

Award for International Co-Production Supported by the Polish Film Institute

The Cineuropa award went to Die Lebenden (The Dead and the Living), a film directed by Barbara Albert, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, and made as a co-production between Austria, Germany and Poland.

Miłość (Loving)

Miłość (Loving) tells the story of the complicated relationship of a thirty-year-old married couple who appear to have everything they need to be happy. Maria has a successful career, Tomek is also satisfied with his job. They are decorating their new home and expecting a baby. It feels like nothing could shake their relationship. But Maria’s secret is a traumatic experience that changes not only her, but also the relationship with her husband. The love between these two people is put to a long and straining test.

Film Supported by the Polish Film Institute

The film was produced by Odeon Rybarczyk Productions and co-produced by Anagram Film. The script was written by Sławomir Fabicki and Marek Pruchniewski. Piotr Szczepański was the film’s DP. The lead roles were played by Julia Kijowska and Marcin Dorociński, with supporting performances by Adam Woronowicz, Agata Kulesza, Dorota Kolak, and Marian Dziędziel. Miłość (Loving) was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. The film was released in Polish cinemas on March 15, 2013. Distribution in Poland is handled by Forum Film Poland.

Awards at International Film Festivals

To date, Miłość (Loving) has received several awards at international film festivals. This picture was voted Best Film at the 18th ‘Kino Pavasaris’ International Film Festival in Vilnius, as well as the Golden Prometheus Award – the Grand Prize of the Tbilisi film festival. For her performance as Maria, Julia Kijowska received the Best Actress Award at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
