Majewski’s Film at the Louvre

On February 2, the Louvre Museum in Paris will host a special screening of Młyn i krzyż (The Mill and the Cross), the latest feature from director Lech Majewski. The screening is part of the fourth edition of Journées Internationales du Film sur l’Art (Films on Art).

The Louvre screening, marking the film’s French premiere, will be attended by director Lech Majewski and actress Charlotte Rampling, who played the role of Mary.

This year’s edition of Journées Internationales du Film sur l’Art runs from January 26 through February 5. The event is co-hosted by the Louvre Museum, the Montreal International Festival of Films on Art, and the Polish Institute in Paris.

Lech Majewski’s The Mill and the Cross is partly based on Pieter Bruegel’s painting “The Procession to Calvary”. The painting is in the collection of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
