„Mother's Day” on the so-called long Oscar list

Co-financed by the Polish Film Institute and produced in the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia in Katowice, the film „Mother’s Day” by Patryk Kaflowski is on the Oscar longlist for short feature films. The 15 titles that will be included in the shortlist of candidates for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards will be announced on December 21.

The film is about a young, pregnant woman who has to deal with complications during childbirth. A female fox that wanders the area looking for food is a witness to the fight for the baby.

„Mother’s Day” had its world premiere during the 40th edition of Koszalin Festival of Film Debuts „Young and Film”. It won the International Competition at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival in India, receiving an Oscar qualification at the same time. It was also included in the program of the Raindance Film Festival – the largest independent film festival in Great Britain.

Film makers

The cinematographer for the film is Patryk Roman. Michał Walter and Patryk Kaflowski were responsible for the editing and Krzysztof Lang for pedagogical supervision over the production. The producer of the film is Krystyna Doktorowicz from the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia.

The 94th American Film Academy Awards Gala is scheduled for March 27, 2022, earlier, on February 8, we will know the nominees for the Oscars.
