"My Name is Ki" in French Cinemas

Ki (My Name Is Ki) by Leszek Dawid will be released in French cinemas on December 19, 2012. The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

French Release Set for December 19

December 19, 2012 will mark the release of Ki (My Name Is Ki) by Leszek Dawid in cinemas across France. The film’s French title is Je m’appelle Ki. Distribution in France is handled by Aramis Films.

Ki

Ki is a lively, hungry-for-life woman and mother of two-year-old Pio. As she rushes, she crashes into Miko, bringing about a meeting of two worlds that in fact should never have met. This is the beginning of a long journey to self-discovery and learning about responsibility. Ki refuses to accept the limitations that stem from taking care of her own child. Not wanting to go down the same path as her own mother, Ki flees from the stereotype of the tired and lonely single mother. She tries to live a colourful and fast-paced life. Ki’s relationships with men are far from promising, although it is these difficult relationships that help her mature into being capable of love and taking responsibility for herself and for her son.

Debut Film from Leszek Dawid

Ki (My Name Is Ki) is the feature debut from Leszek Dawid, produced by Skorpion Arte. The film was written by Leszek Dawid and Paweł Ferdek, and lensed by Łukasz Gutt. The leading parts were played by Roma Gąsiorowska and Adam Woronowicz, with supporting performances by Agata Kulesza, Krzysztof Ogłoza, Sylwia Juszczak, Paweł Królikowski, and Krzysztof Globisz.

Film Supported by the Polish Film Institute

Ki (My Name Is Ki) was released in Polish cinemas on September 30, 2009. Distribution in Poland was handled by Best Film. For her performance as Ki, Roma Gąsiorowska received the Best Actress award at the 36^th Gdynia Film Festival. Ki (My Name Is Ki) also screened during Venice Days at the 2011 Venice International Film Festival, and won the Polish Feature Film Competition at the 5^th Off Plus Camera Festival in Krakow.

Ki (My Name Is Ki) was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
