New Rector of the Film School in Łódź

Dr hab. Milenia Fiedler was elected the new Rector of The Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź for the term 2020-2024. She will replace prof. Mariusz Grzegorzek and take up her function on 1 September.

Announcement from the University Electoral Commission of July 6, 2020.

The University Electoral Commission informs that on July 6, 2020, after the second round of voting on the election of the Rector of The Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź, for the 2020-2024 term, the candidates obtained the following number of votes:

1. dr hab. Milenia Fiedler – 32 votes
2. dr hab. Michał Staszczak – 24 votes

56 out of 57 University Electors took part in the vote. The Electoral Commission announces that the College of Electors has chosen dr hab. Milenia Fiedler, prof. of The Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź for the position of Rector of The Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź for the term 2020-2024.

Vita of the new Rector

Milenia Fiedler was born on December 20, 1966 in Łódź. In 1989, she completed editing at the Film and Television Faculty of the FAMU Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. In 2005 she obtained a PhD in film art, and in 2009 a post-doctoral degree in film art. Editor and lecturer at the Film Department at the Film and Television Directing Department of the Film School in Łódź. Head of the Department since 2016. Member of the Polish Film Academy and European Film Academy (EFA). Co-author of over 240 feature and documentary films, TV series and plays at the Television Theater.

She collaborated with Andrzej Wajda („Katyn”, „Tatarak”, „Wałęsa. A man of hope”), Wojciech Marczewski („Betrayal Time”, „Weiser”), Janusz Majewski („Small Graduation 1947”, „Excentricians or on the sunny side of the street”, „Black Mercedes”), Bodo Kox („Girl from the wardrobe”, „Man with a magic box”), Jerzy Stuhr („Citizen”), Krzysztof Zanussi („Foreign Body”, „Ether”) and Filip Bajon („Panie Dulskie” , „Butler”). She has won the award for editing twice at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia for the films: „Time of betrayal” and „Weiser”. For the latter, she was also awarded the Polish Eagles Film Awards. For over 20 years associated with the Film School in Łódź.
