"Cold War" a big winner at the 31st EFA’s Awards. "Another Day of Life" Best European Animation





December 15 marked the European Film Awards ceremony in Seville. “Cold War” won five awards, alongside for the Best European Film! The Best European Animated Feature Film award went to the animation feature “Another Day of Life” by Damian Nenow and Raul de la Fuente. Both films were co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

“Cold War” named Best European Film!

“Cold War”, a film co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the award for the Best European Film of 2018. The film also won the Best European Director Award and the Best European Screenwriter Award for Paweł Pawlikowski. Joanna Kulig won the Best European Actress Award. Jarosław Kamiński received the Award for the Best European Editor.

The Best European Film Award was presented to director of “Cold War”, Paweł Pawlikowski, and the producers, Ewa Puszczyńska and Tanya Seghatchian. “Cold War” competed in the awards race against Ali Abbasi‘s “Border”, Matteo Garone’s “Dogman”, Lukas Dhont ‘s “Girl” and Alice Rohrwacher ‘s “Happy as Lazzaro”.

Paweł Pawlikowski voted the Best European Director and Best European Screenwriter

The Best European Director Award went to Paweł Pawlikowski, who won the race against Ali Abbasi (“Border”), Matteo Garone (“Dogman”), Samuel Maoz (“Foxtrot”), Alice Rohwacher (“Happy as Lazzaro”).

Members of the European Film Academy selected Paweł Pawlikowski as Best European Screenwriter of 2018. Other screenwriters nominated in this category included Ali Abbasi, Isabella Eklöf, John Ajvide Lindqvist for “Border”, Matteo Garrone, Ugo Chiti, Massimo Gaudioso for “Dogman”, Alice Rohwacher for “Happy as Lazzaro” and Gustav Möller, Emil Nygaard Albertsen for “The Guilty”.

Joanna Kulig Named Best European Actress

Polish actress, Joanna Kulig, won the Award for Best European Actress. Other actresses nominated in this category were, Marie Bäumer (“3 Days in Quiberon”), Eva Melander (“Border”), Alba Rohrwacher (“Happy as Lazzaro”), Bárbara Lennie (“Petra”), Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir (“Women at War”).

Jarosław Kamiński wins the Award for Best European Editor

At the awards ceremony, Jarosław Kamiński accepted the Award for Best European Editor.

Tomasz Kot was nominated in the Best European Actor category for his performance in “Cold War”. The winner of the Best European Actor Award was Marcello Fonte for his performance in “Dogman”.

„Another Day of Life” Named BestEuropean Animation Feature!

The Best European Animation Feature Award went to “Another Day of Life”. The Award was accepted by the directors of the film Damian Nenow and Raul de la Fuente along with the producers, Jarosław Sawko and Amaia Remirez.
