POLISH FILMS IN THE PROGRAM OF 66th IFF in SAN SEBASTIAN

Films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute will be presented during the 66th International Film Festival in San Sebastian.

Zimna wojna (Cold War) and Jeszcze dzień życia (Another day of life) in the PEARLS section

Awarded in Cannes Zimna wojna (Cold War) tells the story of the great and difficult love between two people who cannot be together and cannot live without each other. Their roles are played by Tomasz Kot and Joanna Kulig,  partnered by Agata Kulesza and Borys Szyc. The events shown in the Cold War take place in the 1950s and 1960s in Poland and in Europe, and in the background we can hear the unique soundtrack, a combination of Polish folk music with jazz as well as songs from Parisian bars of the past century.

The co-production Jeszcze dzień życia (Another  Day of Life), presented among others in Cannes and Annecy,  is based on a book by the legendary Polish war correspondent Ryszard Kapuściński. He tells the story of a journalist who, left alone, writes a reportage about the civil war in Angola on the eve of regaining the independence in 1975. During the expedition, the reporter realizes that he is a witness to events which meaning will require going beyond the role of an observer. In order to tell the history of Angola he will have to undergo a profound change. Another day of life, a book in which Kapuściński writes about his experiences in Angola, is a testimony of his rebirth as both a writer and a man.

Both productions were included in the prestigious PEARLS competition section consisting  of  films which have not been presented in Spanish cinemas  but  have already been shown in the international festivals. The films in this section will compete for the Audience Award.
