"100 Years of Polish Cinema. 1908-2008" exhibition at the Polish Film Institute

An exceptional exhibition, “100 years of Polish Cinema. 1908-2008”, was opened on Tuesday at the Polish Film Institute (PISF). It is a short history of Polish film recounted using shoots, fragments of reviews, film dialogues, commentaries, analyses, and even poems.

The exposition and accompanying album present the most important Polish films from the period. The films were chosen by Rafał Marszałek and Andrzej Bukowiecki. The album consists of materials that were shown at the exhibition, and also texts by Rafał Marszałek about particular periods in Polish cinema. The book was published in Polish and English.

Next year the exhibition will be displayed outdoors at Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw and during film festivals in Poland and abroad. Photographs from the exhibition will be placed on the PISF website.

The exhibition was created on the initiative of PISF in cooperation with the National Archives. It was prepared by the Museum of Cinematography in Łódź.
