"11 Minutes" Released Theatrically in Japan

11 minut (11 Minutes), a film directed by Jerzy Skolimowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, was released theatrically in Japan on August 20.

Jerzy Skolimowski’s 11 minut (11 Minutes) was released theatrically in Japan on August 20, 2016. Distribution is handled by Copiapoa Film.

On April 8, 2016, Jerzy Skolimowski’s latest feature also had a limited theatrical and online (iTunes) release in the United States. The film’s Polish premiere was on October 23, 2015. 

11 minut (11 Minutes)

The same eleven minutes in the lives of various protagonists are shown through parallel storylines. Before the last second of the eleventh minute is up, their fates are brought together by an event that will have a huge impact on their lives.

An insanely jealous husband, his sexy actress wife, a sneaky hollywood director, a careless drug dealer, a girl with a beloved dog, a hot dog vendor with a sketchy past, a frustrated student on a risky mission, a mountain-climber-turned-window-washer, an elderly painter, a paramedic team with an unusual problem, and a group of hungry nuns. An array of people living in a modern city; their lives and passions intertwine. An unexpected chain of events will settle their fate in under eleven minutes. 

The Team

The film was written and directed by Jerzy Skolimowski, lensed by Mikołaj Łebkowski, and features performances by Andrzej Chyra, Dawid Ogrodnik, Wojciech Mecwaldowski, Agata Buzek, Jan Nowicki, Piotr Głowacki, Richard Dormer, andi Ifi Ude. 11 minut (11 Minutes) was made as a Polish-Irish co-production. The film was produced by Skopia Film, co-produced by Element Pictures, Telewizja Polska, Orange, HBO, and Fundacja Tumult, and co-finnaced by the Polish Film Institute, Eurimages, and the Irish Film Board. 

World Premiere in Venice

The film had its world premiere at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival, screening in Main Competition and winning special mention of the youth jury. 11 Minutes also screened at the Toronto IFF, the BFI London Film Festival, the Gdynia Film Festival, and the Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival. The film was Poland’s 2015 Oscar contender in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
