"11 MINUTES" WINS BEST FILM IN LISBON

11 minut (11 Minutes), a film directed by Jerzy Skolimowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the top prize at the ninth edition of the Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival.

Main competition jury members Sabine Azéma, Cédric Villani, Itamar Golan, Jessica Hausner, Andrei A. Tarkovsky and Pedro Gadanho said in the jury statement that Jerzy Skolimowski’s feature is “outstanding for adding something innovative to the cinematic language.”

The Polish-Irish co-production competed for the Jaeger-LeCoulture Best Film Award against 13 other films, including The Room by Lenny Abrahamson and 7 Chinese Brothers by Bob Byington.

11 minutes

11 minut (11 Minutes) is a Polish-Irish co-production. The film’s leading producer is Skopia Film, with Element Pictures, Telewizja Polska, Orange, HBO and Fundacja Tumult as co-producers. The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, Eurimages and the Irish Film Board. Jerzy Skolimowski’s 11 minut (11 Minutes) has also been selected as Poland’s candidate for the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

Matka Ziemia (Mother Earth): Distribution in Portugal

The graduation film by Piotr Złotorowicz, graduate of the Łódź Film School, received the Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival’s award for Best Short Film. The award is distribution in Portugal, which will be handled by Leopardo Films.

The film was lensed by Nicolás Villegas Hernández, with Filip Bajon, Jerzy Zieliński and Jarosław Kamiński acting as artistic supervisors. Starring Mirosław Baka and Dariusz Przybył, Matka Ziemia (Mother Earth) has to date received special mention at the Locarno International Film Festival and an award at the Gijon Film Festival.
