SPOTLIGHT ON POLAND AT 2017 CARTOON FORUM
The 2017 Cartoon Forum, one of the top events in the world of animated film, took place between September 11 and September 14 in Toulouse. This year the festival will be putting the spotlight on Poland.

The Oscar Committee has selected Pokot (Spoor) by Agnieszka Holland to be Poland's candidate for the Best Foreign Language Academy Award.

Pitch & Meet. Warsaw Co-Production Meetings - Submissions 2017
From the 6th September, The Polish Film Institute in cooperation with Warsaw Film Festival accepts submissions for a pitching session in the frame of Pitch & Meet. Warsaw Co-Production Meetings. The submissions are open to Polish and international filmmakers. Selected film projects will get the opportunity to be presented to Polish and international members of the film industry.
Maciej Sobieszczański Awarded in Montreal
Maciej Sobieszczański received award for Best Director at 41st World Film Festival in Montreal that run through September 4 for his feature debut The Reconciliation, a film co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
THE POLISH FILM INSTITUTE HAS SECURED EU FUNDING FOR DIGITISING FILMS
The Polish Film Institute has managed to secure EU funding for the digital restoration of the archives of Polish cinema. Over the next three years, Polish cinema will be almost entirely digitised.

Several Polish films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute are in official selection at the 74th Venice International Film Festival, which runs from August 30 through September 9.

Powidoki (Afterimage), a film directed by Andrzej Wajda and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute was released theatrically in Brazil on August 17, 2017.
POLISH FILMS AT 41ST WORLD IFF IN MONTREAL
The lineup of the 41st World Film Festival in Montreal features two films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.Maciej Sobieszczański's featue debut Zgoda (The Reconciliation) will screen in Main Competition, while Syn Królowej Śniegu (The Son of the Snow Queen) by Robert Wichrowski screens in the Focus on World Cinema section.

Komunia (Communion), a documentary film directed by Anna Zamecka has been selected as one of the best documentaries of the year and is in the running for nominations for the European Film Awards.

Pokot (Spoor), a film directed by Agnieszka Holland and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, will be released theatrically in Norway on August 18, 2017.
Entries To The 2nd Edition Of Future Docs
From now on, documentary filmmakers and human rights defenders can submit their applications to the 2017-2018 edition of Future Docs. The focus of this year’s edition of the project are Nordic and Baltic countries as well as Central Europe.
