"Agnus Dei" in Belgian and Dutch Cinemas

Agnus Dei (Niewinne, Les innocentes), a film directed by Anne Fontaine and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute are released theatrically in March in both Belgium and Netherlands.

Belgian and Dutch Premiere

Agnus Dei  (Polish title: Niewinne, French title: Les innocentes), directed by Anne Fontaine and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute was released theatrically in Belgium on March 9. On March 17 film was released theatrically in Netherlands. Distribution in both countries is handled by Imagine.

Over 500,000 admissions in France

Agnus Dei  was released theatrically in France on February 10, 2016. Distribution in France in handled by Mars Films. To date the film has marked over 518, 000 admissions in France.

The film was released theatrically in Poland on March 11. Distribution in Poland is handled by Kino Świat.

Agnus Dei

Agnus Dei  is set in Poland in the winter of 1945. Mathilde Beaulieu (Lou de Lâage) is a young intern working for the local branch of the French Red Cross; their goal is to find, treat and repatriate French survivors of the Nazi concentration camps. One day, a Polish nun arrives at the hospital. In poor French, she begs Mathilde to come to her convent.

The film stars Lou de Lâage (Respire, Jappeloup, nominated for the César award for most promising actress) and Vincent Macaigne (Eden), as well as Polish actresses Agata Kulesza (Ida), Agata Buzek [Rewers (The Reverse)] and Joanna Kulig [Sponsoring (Elles),Ida].

International Co-Production Co-Financed by the Polish Film Institute

The film was produced by Eric Altmayer and Nicolas Altmayer of Mandarin Cinema (Bertrand Bonello’s Saint Laurent) and by Philippe Carcassonne, and co-produced by Eliza Oczkowska and Klaudia Śmieja of Aeroplan Film (Poland), Mars Films, Canal+France, nc+Polska, France 2 Cinema and Scope Picture (Belgium), with support from the Film Commission Poland. The film was lensed by Caroline Champetier and filmed entirely in Poland. The film’s visual side was handled by Polish talent: production designer Joanna Macha and costume designer Katarzyna Lewińska. The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
