"Another Day of Life" nominated for European Film Award





The nominations for the category Animated Feature Film were determined by a committee comprised of EFA Board Deputy Chairman Antonio Saura (Spain), EFA Board Member Graziella Bildesheim (Italy), producer Manuel Cristobal (Spain), director Dorota Kobiela (Poland), distributor Sune Lind Thomsen (Denmark) and writer Claire Paoletti (France).

“Another Day of Life”

Presented, among others in Cannes and Annecy, the co-production “Another Day of Life” is based on a book by the legendary Polish war correspondent Ryszard Kapuściński. The film was shown in the prestigious PEARLS competition section, which presents films that have not been shown in cinemas in Spain so far, but have already appeared in the international festival circuit. “Another Day of Life” received  the main prize of the section, the audience award. The premiere in Spanish cinemas is scheduled for October 26th.

It tells the story of a journalist who, left alone, writes a reportage about the civil war in Angola on the eve of regaining the independence in 1975. During the expedition, the reporter realizes that he is a witness to events which meaning will require going beyond the role of an observer. In order to tell the history of Angola he will have to undergo a profound change. “Another Day of Life”, a book in which Kapuściński writes about his experiences in Angola, is a testimony of his rebirth as both a writer and a man

The film’s directors are Damian Nenow (Poland) and Raúl de la Fuente (Spain). The authors of the screenplay are Raúl de la Fuente, Damian Nenow, Amaia Remírez, David Weber and Niall Johnson. The film is a Polish-Spanish-German-Belgian-Hungarian co-production. Polish film producers are Jarosław Sawko and Ole Wendorff-Østergaard from Platige Films. India Sales is responsible for international distribution. The Polish distributor is Next Film, which will introduce the movie to cinemas on November 2nd, 2018.

The European Animated Feature Film 2018 winner will be presented at the 31st European Film Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 15 December, in Berlin.
