Award for the School Film Library

The School Film Library, or Filmoteka Szkolna, an educational programme of the Polish Film Institute, has been awarded the Platinum Goats – a special award of the 7th International Young Audience Film Festival. The festival will take place on December 6-13, 2009 in Poznań.

“We have recognized an excellent, ever-growing project, helpful in introducing new ways of experiencing film art”, said the festival organizers in an official statement. “While directed mainly at students, the School Film Library does not fail to support teachers in their mission of introducing young people to their cultural heritage and acting as guides in the world of art. Apart from an extensive film database, the School Film Library project guarantees various forms of education: from commentaries, film lesson options, to stimulating personal reflection and analysis and welcoming debate”, the statement continues.

More information about the School Film Library project is available at www.filmotekaszkolna.pl (Polish only).
