Awards at 9th International Film Festival "Crossroads of Europe"

The film The First Day (Pierwszy dzień) by Marcin Sauter was awarded the Grand Prix at the 9th International Film Festival “Crossroads of Europe” in Lublin. The Special Award funded by the Polish Film Institue was presented by General Director Agnieszka Odorowicz to the film The Independent (Niezależni) by Jacek Talczewski.


The jury for short feature films: Marcela Plitkova, chairman, Magda Sendecka and Wolodymir Bordiuk, and the jury for feature films: Jacek Bławut, chairman, Jan Kastner and Irina Romaneczko, made the following awards:

 

SHORT FILMS

 

Grand Prix and PLN 8 000 funded by Krzysztof Grabczuk, the Marshall of Lubelskie Voivodeship, to the film The First Day (Pierwszy dzień) by Marcin Sauter, Poland – for humanism, sensitivity, sensibility, and precision in narrating the most important human issues; for the truth of picture and metaphor.

 

II Award and PLN 4 000 funded by Adam Wasilewski, the President of Lublin – to the film Na tretiej planetie ot solnca by Paweł Miedwiediew (Russia) – for depicting the crossing of everlasting human roads and heartless paths of contemporary civilization; for poetry and irony.

 

III Award and PLN 2 000 funded by Prof. Anna Gajdzińska of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University – to the film O Soni a jej rodine by Daniela Rusnoková (Slovakia) – for respect and love for the characters, for optimism and consent to reality.

 

FEATURE FILMS

 

Grand Prix and PLN 10 000 funded by Adam Wasilewski, President of Lublin – to the film Obcina by Björn Reinhard (Romania) – for sensitivity of observation and for reconciling human nature with one’s lot.

 

II Award and PLN 5 000 funded by Krzysztof Grabczuk, the Marshall of Lubelskie Voivodeship to a film Iné sety by Marko Skop (Czech Republic, Slovakia) – for humour and for exploring the theme: “If you are not yourself, you are nobody.”

 

III Award and PLN 2 500, funded by Prof. Anna Gajdzińska of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University – to the film Tza’ad Revi’i La’matbe’a by Dan Geva (Israel) – for a moving return to the past.

 

The Special Jury Mention to the film Krepko celuju i lublu by Anastazja Czerkassova (Russia) – for a topic that cannot be forgotten.

 

The Jury of Polish Federation of Film Discussion Clubs comprising Grzegorz Pieńkowski, chairman, Rafał Lewandowski, and Joanna Gwóźdź unanimously granted their award and PLN 2 000 to the film Obcina by Björn Reinhard – for visual beauty, purity of construction, warmth in presenting the human condition, and showing the core of human life.

 

SPECIAL AWARDS

 

The Special Award for the best Polish film and PLN 5 000 funded by the Polish Film Institute through General Director Agnieszka Odorowicz, to the film The Independent (Niezależni) by Jacek Talczewski – for its archives and witnesses, for the precision of historical synthesis, for its nostalgia and energy.

 

The Honourable Award of Fundacja Kultury Duchowej Pogranicza for propagating international dialogue was given to Jerzy Hoffman.

 

The Special Award of Bełsat TV was presented to Anastazja Cherkassova for Krepko zeluju i lublu. It was given by a jury comprising Grzegorz Linkowski, director of the festival “Crossroads of Europe”, and Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy, director of Bełsat TV.
