"Carnage" Nominated for EFA

Nominations for the 25th European Film Awards were announced on November 3 at the Seville Film Festival. Two nominations went to Carnage by Roman Polański. The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

 

This year’s best European filmmakers will be selected by over 2,700 members of the European Film Academy. The 25th edition of the European Film Awards ceremony will be held on December 1 in Malta.

European Actress

One of the five nominees for Best European Actress is Kate Winslet, who played one of the lead parts in Roman Polański’s Carnage. Other nominees in this category are: Emilie Dequenne (for her performance in Our Children), Nina Hoss (Barbara), Emmanuelle Riva (Amour), and Margarethe Tiesel (Paradise: Love).

European Screenwriter

Roman Polański and Yasmina Reza received a nomination in the European Screenwriter category. Yasmina Reza is the author of “God of Carnage”, the play on which Polański’s Carnage is based. Other nominees in this category are: Michael Haneke (Amour), Cristian Mungiu (Beyond the Hills), Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano (Untouchable), and Thomas Vinterberg and Tobias Lindholm (The Hunt).

 

One of the films nominated in the European Film Academy Short Film is the Swiss-produced L’Ambassadeur et moi (The Ambassador & Me) by Polish director Jan Czarlewski.
