On Saturday, during the 32nd European Film Awards Gala, Paweł Pawlikowski's film co-financed by the Polish Film Institute won the EFA People’s Choice Award.
In this category, the winner is chosen by the audience in an online vote. Lovers of European cinema could vote for their favorite film from the beginning of September to the end of October. Paweł Pawlikowski received the award in Berlin.
The presence of Paweł Pawlikowski on stage was not the only Polish accent. This year Joanna Kulig presented the European director award (this year it was awarded to Jorgos Lanthimos for the "Favorite"), and Agata Buzek presented the Eurimages award for the European co-producer (Ankica Juric Tilić received it), while the director Agnieszka Holland appeared on the stage to to announce the winner of the first time award for the best series, which turned out to be „Babylon Berlin”.
Last year, "Cold War" received five statuettes, including the European film, director, screenwriter (Paweł Pawlikowski), actress (Joanna Kulig) and editor (Jaroslaw Kamiński).
