"Corpus Christi" at the 33rd AFI FEST in Los Angeles





Co-funded by the Polish Film Institute, the Polish Oscar candidate – “Corpus Christi” by Jan Komasa – will be screened at the prestigious AFI FEST festival in Los Angeles. The 33rd edition of the festival will take place on November 14-21, 2019.

“Corpus Christi” in the World Cinema section

The World Cinema section will present the most famous international films of the year. The section’s program includes five candidates for Oscar nomination (including “Corpus Christi”) and sixteen titles from nineteen countries.

Polish accents during the previous edition of the festival

During the previous edition of the festival in the same section as the “Corpus Christi”, Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s “Fugue” was shown, while the short film program included the animation of “III” by Marta Pajek. Last year, Paweł Pawlikowski’s “Cold War” could not miss the American festival. The film was presented as part of special screenings. In addition, Joanna Kulig took part in a panel organized by Hollywood Reporter during the 32nd AFI FEST. Apart from  the Polish actress, the panel included: Willem Dafoe, Richard E. Grant, Kathryn Hahn, Felicity Jones, Thomasin McKenzie, Rosamund Pike and John C. Reilly.

AFI FEST

Every autumn, as part of the AFI FEST, the American Film Institute presents the best films in their opinion from around the world. The festival specializes in the presentation of debuts and second films as well as  documentaries. In addition, as part of the festival, there are world cinema screenings, retrospectives, special screenings and discussions take. In the over 30-year history of the event, many films were presented during the AFI FEST festival, which then won Oscar nominations and statuettes.
