"Corpus Christi" at the prestigious Contenders event





On November 2, the Polish Oscar candidate, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, Jan Komasa’s “Corpus Christi” will take part in the prestigious Contenders event, organized by Deadline magazine and opening the awards season in the USA.

Jan Komasa’s film is very popular not only among Polish viewers, but also among the foreign film industry. The rights to distribute “Corpus Christi” were sold to almost 40 territories, and the film was invited to the program of 60 festivals.

The film was sold to the countries of Europe, Asia, North America, South America as well as Australia and New Zealand, which means that the Polish film will be shown almost all over the world.

Among the most important festivals, which invited  Polish film, there are international film festivals in Toronto, Chicago and Busan, AFI Fest and Black Nights.

Komasa’s work has been awarded at festivals in Venice, El Gouna, Reykjavik and Luxembourg, among others. In the last few days, Bartosz Bielenia was awarded during the International Independent Film Festival in Bordeaux, France and during the Chicago International Film Festival.

On November 2, Polish production took part in Contenders – an event organized by Deadline magazine. This is one of the most important and prestigious events that begins the awards season in the United States and is an important part of any Oscar campaign. Next to “Corpus Christi” Conteders shown such high-profile productions as Todd Phillips’s “The Joker”, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” by Quentin Tarantino, “Irishman” by Martin Scorsese or “Pain and Glow” by Pedro Almodovar.
